Number 13

Number 13 is the number of rebellion, chaos and wrong way. This is the number of Nimrod, who was the 13th in Ham’s line (Ham the son of Noah who survived the flood). Nimrod believed himself to be as mighty as God, because he was skillful hunter. However, his intentions were dark and led by evil spirit. 13 is a number that stands for human actions against God that were favored and instigated by the evil.

Number 13 is also connected to the phrase “valley of Hinnom”, it was used 13 times through the text, describing rituals for pagan creature Moloch, who demanded sacrifice of children. Later the phrase was used as he metaphor for the fire which will burn disobedient sinners. The symbol of Satan – Dragon, was referred o 13 times in Revelation. Satan is the incentive power to all actions against God.

Jesus enumerates 13 things that contaminate person’s soul: cheating, licentiousness, dark contemplations, killing, greed, stealing, maliciousness, revelry, falsity, profanity, foolery, vanity and wicked eye.

Number 13 is a symbol of evil and its plans, every place where this number appears in the God’s word we can see the signs of rebellion, disobedience, grieve and sorrows experienced by people because of their actions while they were confused by evil spirit.
